france

We're lucky enough to have the use of a chalet in the French alps. Thank you very much, Mr et Mme Jones.

It's in the French Alps in a town called Morzine, which is very close to both Avoriaz and Les Gets. The resort forms part of the Portes du Soleil ski region.

Therefore, you can expect most of this section to be about skiing - but not quite all - as the town makes for magnificent summer holidays too.

The Portes du Soleil is a large interconnected ski area made up of many resorts. As they say themselves: "2 countries, 14 resorts, 208 lifts, 288 marked slopes, 243 km of cross-country skiing, 8 snowparks, 1082 ski instructors...Words are not enough to describe this area, you have to see it yourself!". To be fair, they're not wrong. There is an enourmous amount of skiing here, and after five weeks spent in the region so far we're still finding more to do.

The chalet is decorated throughout with a heart theme. Most of the furnishings were procured locally, although a few items were taken over from the UK.

It's about 10 minutes into the centre of town by foot. This means that there's a vast array of resturants available, although we tend to spend quite a bit of time in La Chaudanne which is situated at the end of the road. It can be seen just behind the "stop" sign in the last photo.
