croydon

I was born in Gillingam, Kent in 1980. I'm quite proud of being a Kentish lad, especially as Kent produces the best hops (and therefore beer) in the world. But more about that later.

When I was four my Dad was working in Purley. Being quite a long journey from Gillingham my parents moved to Croydon. Unfortunately, Dad was made redundant from Purley not long after, which I think is what's termed sod's law.

I grew up first in Selsdon, and then Forestdale. It wasn't a bad place to grow up and I've met some fantastic people there - but I can't say I wasn't glad to move away. Croydon gets a lot of bad press and I don't think it's all justified - especially when you experience the less urban south side of Croydon.

Croydon was where I met Beth (Long live the Litten Tree. Or maybe not). I've then subsequently chased her around the world. It's highly likely that the Wedding's going to be in Croydon, although that's still very much work in progress.

Both our parents still live around Croydon, and so we're often in the area and enjoy visiting the town every now and then. Just not toooo much, if you see what I mean.
