In April we took our second trip of the year to Morzine, this time with Claire and Matt. Claire's been skiing about as long as Beth, and Matt a little shorter than me, so our skills were well matched. We were in Morzine over my birthday, and Matt and Claire took a visit to the local toy shop to get me a present. They came back with a little French game based on snap called "jungle speed". The rest, as they say, is history.
This was a very funny week - except for when we shut Matt's head in the boot of the hire car. That wasn't funny at all. Honest.

The petite pin - the resturant with the poles. After stopping here for lunch, we came out to find that someone had stolen my poles. They weren't even decent ones - they were from the hire shop. Fortunately, I just happened to find an identical pair at the next resturant we stopped at. The blue run it sits on is very wide and can get a bit manic - it's a bit of a motorway. This leads into the lower section of Avoriaz.
The thing with Matt is that you tell him things and he just doesn't listen. "Don't stab yourself in the leg with your poles Matt" I say, and what does he do? You guessed it.
The bruising that ensued was the entertainment of the week - what colour was it going to turn next? If you look at the photo very carefully you can see Claire in the background laughing at Matt's misfortune!
Stopping for lunch in Les Linderet. This is a great place for sitting out as it's a sheltered bowl and there's never much wind. It does tend to get quite busy as there's 4 or 5 runs that feed in along with the Ardent bubble, but there's 4 lifts that serve a variety of routes out.
Nice t-shirt Claire - Aquameet rules.
My favourite lake in the world, Montriond. It's thawed a little since January, which makes running across it far less tempting (And don't worry mother, I won't try it). This is looking down the road in the Morzine direction, and I'm still trying to find out what the hill in the background is called.
