skiing, jumping and falling

We had five days skiing in total, and were blessed with good weather. We had a morning of snow and poor visiblity but the rest of the time was clear and sunny.

The first two and a half days were spent at Oeschinen in Kandersteg. The next half day at Sunnbuel also in Kandersteg, and the final two days at Lauchernalp.

It must be said that Kandersteg had rather limited skiing, with one chairlift up from the resort and two t-bars on the mountain. And it turned out that our group could have done with t-bar training prior to the holiday.

Matt seemed to like to the bar - but that was the one without the t.

Rob was certainly the skier of the week. For someone who (claimed he) had never skied before he was a pro by the end of the week. The trick, it seems, is to not be scared of falling over. Well done Rob.

Because of the limited skiing some of us got bored quite quickly, and spent a considerable amount of time trying to find more fun things to do. This usually involved off-piste, backwards skiing and the jumping. Mostly, this resulted in maniac Sarah spending most of her time off the side of the piste, with Gareth following her and coming off a little worse for wear.

Jumping was great fun. Most attempts were unsuccessful, the videos of our attempts and subsequent falls will appear below.

This is James before...

...and a rather snowy James afterwards. The video of this is coming soon!

Rob's "bit of luck".

On the way home from Sunnbuel.

Beth, Matt and Claire at the top of Lauchernalp. Although Jabba told us several times, I can't remember what any of the mountains are called.
