Our accomodation whilst in Kandersteg was at the international scout centre where we'd signed up for one of their ski weeks. This is an inclusive package which includes accomodation, ski hire, food and lift pass.
Our group converged by different routes: Claire, Beth and I were the first to arrive from Morzine in France. Sarah, Matt and Rob were next who'd flown to Milan and completed the journey by train. Hannah, Andy and James followed via Geneva and then train again. Phil was a late arrival that night and Gareth arrived on the second day, both also via Geneva.
The food was of good quality and there was plenty of it. They also tried very hard to convert us all to Iced Tea by the end of the week, which was...nice.
The "pinkies" were reasonbly well behaved - even Jabba, who was our guide for the week. Matt was educated in the dangers of not wearing sun cream and plenty of kisses seemed to be exchange during the fondue evening.
The only bad thing I'll say: I suggest you plan carefully if you're going to KISC to ski. It's great for beginners. I'm told the classes weren't too crowded and certainly good value for money. If you can already ski then you'll be bored after one day in Kandersteg, and after one or two in Lauchernalp. There's some other resorts, such as the Interlaken (not much further than Lauchernalp - although I don't know how easy they are to get to by public transport). If you're planning on going to other resorts then don't book in for the ski-week. Stay at KISC and organise your own lift pass.
